Lower consumer price growth in Norway than in the EEA

The estimated harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) for the EEA was 112.9 (1996=100) in July. The year-to-year change in the EEA was 1.8 per cent in July. In comparison, the year-to-year growth in Norway was 1.2 per cent in July.

The estimated HICP in the Euro-zone was 113.1 in July. The year-to-year growth in July was 1.9 per cent, down from 2.0 per cent in June.

For Norway the HICP was 115.1 in July, down 0.3 per cent from June. From July 2002 to July 2003 the consumer prices rose by 1.2 per cent, down from 1.5 per cent in June.

The numbers for EEA, Euro-zone and the EU are provisional from June 2002 to June 2003 because of an error in the consumer price index in the Netherlands. The numbers for July 2003 are estimated.
