EEA consumer prices up 2.6 per cent

The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) for the EEA was 109.4 (1996=100) in August, an increase of 0.1 per cent from July. From August 2000 to August 2001 the HICP increased by 2.6 per cent, compared with 2.2 per cent in Norway.

The HICP for the European Monetary Union was 109.4 in August, the same as in July. The year to year growth in August was 2.7 per cent.

For Norway the HICP in August was 112.1, down by 0.3 per cent from July. From August last year the prices have increased by 2.2 per cent.
