EEA consumer prices up 3.1 per cent

The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) for the EEA was 109.5 (1996=100) in May, an increase of 0.6 per cent from April. From May 2000 to May 2001 the HICP increased by 3.1 per cent. The year to year growth in April was 2.6 per cent.

The HICP for the European Monetary Union was 109.4 in May, up 0.6 per cent from April. The year to year growth in May was 3.4 per cent.

For Norway the HICP in May was 114.2, an increase of 0.4 per cent from April. From May last year the prices have increased by 4.0 per cent.
