EEA consumer prices up 2.0 per cent

The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) for the EEA was 106.6 (1996=100) in August, the same as in July. From August 1999 to August 2000 the HICP increased by 2.0 per cent. The year to year growth in July was 2.2 per cent.

The HICP for the European Monetary Union was 106.5 in August, the same as in July. The year to year growth in August was 2.3 per cent.

For Norway the HICP in August was 109.7, a decrease of 0.3 per cent from July. From August last year the prices have increased by 3.5 per cent.
