Wholesale prices decreased by 0.1 per cent

The wholesale prices decreased by a total of 0.1 per cent from the 1 s t quarter 2001 to the 1 s t quarter 2002. From the 4 t h quarter 2001 to the 1 s t quarter 2002 the wholesale prices increased by 0.1 per cent.

The wholesale fuel price index decreased the most by 9.5 per cent from the 1 s t quarter 2001 to the 1 s t quarter 2002. During the same period the wholesale prices of non-agricultural intermediate products, waste and scrap and the wholesale prices of clothing and footwear decreased by respectively 4.6 and 2.6 per cent. The wholesale of hardware, plumbing and heating equipment had the biggest increase in prices. The prices rose by 3.5 per cent from the 1 s t quarter 2001 to the 1 s t quarter 2002. The wholesale prices of food, beverages and tobacco and the wholesale prices of agricultural raw materials and live animals rose by 3.0 and 2.8 per cent during the same period respectively. The price index of the wholesale of electrical household appliances and radio and television was unchanged.

Cheaper fuel

The wholesale prices of fuel decreased by 3.0 per cent from the 4 t h quarter 2001 to the 1 s t quarter 2002. The wholesale prices of non-agricultural intermediate products, waste and scrap and the wholesale prices of wood, construction materials and sanitary equipment decreased by 1.5 and 1.3 per cent during the same period respectively. The price index for the wholesale prices of clothing and footwear and the wholesale of hardware, plumbing and heating equipment on the other hand rose by 1.6 and 1.5 per cent from the 4 t h quarter 2001 to the 1 s t quarter 2002. During the same period the wholesale prices of electrical household appliances and radio and television was unchanged.
