Wholesale prices increased by 1.5 per cent

The wholesale prices increased by a total of 1.5 per cent from 1st quarter to 2nd quarter 2001. From 2nd quarter 2000 to 2nd quarter 2001 the wholesale prices increased by 3.5 per cent.

The wholesale price index of food, beverages and tobacco increased the most by 4.1 per cent from 1st quarter to 2nd quarter 2001. The wholesale fuel price index rose by 1.3 per cent during the same period. The wholesale prices of non-agricultural intermediate products. Waste and scrap gained 0.8 per cent from 1st quarter to 2nd quarter 2001. The wholesale prices of hardware, plumbing and heating equipment and supplies and the wholesale prices of wood, construction materials and sanitary equipment rose by respectively 1.2 and 0.3 per cent during the same period. The wholesale prices of electrical household appliances and radio and television goods and the wholesale prices of furniture and non-electrical household articles decreased by 0.1 and 0.4 per cent from 1st quarter to 2nd quarter 2001.

Fuel prices up 5.2 per cent

The wholesale fuel price index rose by 5.2 per cent from 2nd quarter 2000 to 2nd quarter 2001. The wholesale prices of non-agricultural intermediate products. Waste and scrap and the wholesale prices of hardware, plumbing and heating equipment and supplies increased both by 4.9 per cent during the same period. The wholesale prices of electrical household appliances and radio and television goods and the wholesale prices of furniture and non-electrical household articles decreased by 1.2 and 0.6 per cent from 2nd quarter 2000 to 2nd quarter 2001.
