Wholesale prices decreased by 0.3 per cent

The wholesale prices decreased by a total of 0.3 per cent from 4th quarter 2000 to 1st quarter 2001 and rose by 3.8 per cent from 1st quarter 2000 to 1st quarter 2001.

The wholesale fuel price index decreased by 6.1 per cent from 4th quarter 2000 to 1st quarter 2001. The wholesale prices of non-agricultural intermediate products. Waste and scrap decreased by 2.6 per cent during the same period. The wholesale prices of hardware, plumbing and heating equipment and supplies rose by 1.8 per cent and the wholesale prices of wood, construction materials and sanitary equipment climbed 1.7 per cent in the same period.

Fuel prices up 8.4 per cent

The wholesale fuel price index rose by 8.4 per cent from 1st quarter 2000 to 1st quarter 2001. The wholesale prices of non-agricultural intermediate products. Waste and scrap increased by 7.0 per cent during the same period.
