The price is connected to the quarter in which the local authorities register the construction work as completed and not at the time of entering into the sales contract. Therefore, the price index for new detached houses intercepts large changes in the market with a delay of almost one year.

New detached houses up 6.5 per cent

Prices of new, detached houses increased by 6.5 per cent from the second quarter 2000 to the second quarter 2001.

The prices increased by 4.1 per cent in the second quarter compared to the first quarter 2001. Adjusted by seasonally variations the prices increased by 1.8 per cent.

Prices of new, detached houses reached a low point in 1993 and since then prices have increased by 75 per cent. The consumer price index increased by 20.7 per cent in the same period.

A total of 748 observations are used in the calculation of the price index.
