House prices down

House prices decreased by 1.6 per cent from the second to the third quarter of 2001. Compared with the third quarter of 2000 prices increased by 6.8 per cent.

Prices decreased the most in Akershus (exclusive Bærum) with 4.0 per cent from the second to the third quarter of 2001. In Oslo and Bærum and the major cities of Stavanger, Bergen and Trondheim prices fell by 1.4 and 0.8 per cent respectively. In the rest of the country, prices decreased by 1.5 per cent in the same period of time.

From the third quarter of 2000 to the third quarter of 2001 house prices increased by 5.8 per cent in Oslo and Bærum. Prices increased by 2.9 per cent in the rest of Akershus. In Stavanger, Bergen and Trondheim and the rest of the country prices increased by 6.6 and 7.6 per cent, respectively, during the same period of time.

A total of 5 199 sales have been used in the calculation of the price index.
