House prices rose moderately in Oslo

House prices in Oslo and Akershus rose by 3.3 and 2.9 per cent respectively, from the second quarter of 2000 to the second quarter of 2001. The overall price index shows a 5.4 per cent increase in the same period.

Prices of flats in Oslo increased by 2.5 per cent, from the second quarter of 2000 to the second quarter of 2001. In the major cities Stavanger, Bergen and Trondheim flat prices increased by 10.5 per cent in the same period. The overall price index for flats rose by 4,7 per cent.

Prices of detached houses rose by 7,4 per cent in Oslo, from the second quarter of 2000 to the second quarter of 2001. In Akershus, detached house prices rose by 1,3 per cent in the same period.

On an annual basis, house prices outside Oslo, Akershus and the major cities, are 6.1 per cent higher than in the second quarter of 2000.

A total of 7751 sales have been used in the calculation of the price index for the second quarter of 2001.
