Small rise in house prices

House prices increased on average by 0.3 per cent from the second to the third quarter of 2011. Prices are still 8.3 per cent higher than the third quarter last year.

On a national scale house prices increased by 0.3 per cent from the second to the third quarter this year. In the largest cities Oslo, Stavanger, Bergen and Trondheim and the two northernmost regions, prices increased by between 0.5 and 1.7 per cent. The other regions had a decrease the last quarter.

While prices for detached houses fell from the second to the third quarter of 2011, flats in blocks and row houses increased, by respectively 2.6 and 0.8 per cent

Strongest growth in Trøndelag last year

House prices increased by 8.3 per cent from the third quarter of 2010 to the third quarter of 2011. House prices in Trøndelag without Trondheim had the highest rise, by 12.8 per cent, followed by Trondheim with a 10.0 per cent growth.

Prices for flats in blocks had the highest increase this period, by 10.8 per cent. For row houses and detached houses the growth was respectively 7.7 and 7.6 per cent.

A total of 21 563 house sales are used in the index computation for the third quarter of 2011.
