House prices up 3.7 per cent

Houses prices increased on average by 3.7 per cent from the first to the second quarter of 2010.

House price index for detached houses in Norway, Sweden and Denmark. 1st quarter 1992 = 100

Flats in blocks and row houses increased by 2.9 and 2.1 per cent respectively from the first quarter to the second quarter this year. During the same period the prices of detached houses increased by 4.6 per cent.

Bergen and the rest of Western Norway had the strongest rise in house prices in the last quarter, 5.7 and 5.4 per cent respectively. Trondheim was the region with the lowest price growth, at 0.9 per cent in the same period.

Sharpest increase in Stavanger and Bergen

House prices increased by 9.1 per cent from the second quarter of 2009 to the second quarter of 2010. The large cities Stavanger and Bergen had the strongest rise in house prices with 16.8 and 14.6 per cent, and the rest of Western Norway was the region with the lowest price growth at 3.6 per cent.

A total of 22 673 house sales are used in the index computation for the second quarter of 2010.
