Construction costs up 8 per cent

The construction costs of residential buildings increased by 8.0 per cent from September last year to September this year. The material costs rose by 11.2 per cent in the same period.

The construction costs of detached houses of wood increased by 9.1 per cent, while costs of multi-dwelling houses rose by 6.3 per cent the last year. The material costs of detached houses of wood and multi-dwelling houses increased by 12.3 and 9.3 per cent respectively from September 2006 to September this year.

The last month the construction costs of detached houses of wood and multi-dwelling houses increased by 0.2 and 0.4 per cent respectively.
