Construction costs up 6.3 per cent

Overall construction costs of residential buildings increased by 6.3 per cent from March last year to March this year. The material costs increased by 7.6 per cent in the same period.

From March 2006 to March 2007 the construction costs of detached houses of wood and multi-dwelling houses increased by 6.7 and 5.7 per cent respectively. The material costs rose by 7.7 and 7.3 per cent respectively in the same period.

The construction costs of residential buildings rose by 0.3 per cent last month. The material costs rose by 0.6 per cent in the same period.
