Construction costs up 0.4 per cent last month

The construction costs of residential buildings increased by 0.4 per cent from July to August this year. The material costs rose by 0.1 per cent in the same period.

Wage statistics for the second quarter of 2006 are included in the building costs of August.

The construction costs of multi-dwelling houses and detached houses of wood both increased by 0.4 per cent from July to August this year. The material costs rose by 0.2 and 0.1 per cent respectively.

From August last year to August this year the construction costs of residential buildings increased by 3.7 per cent, while the material costs rose by 3.4 per cent in the same period. The construction costs of multi-dwelling houses increased by 4.2 per cent, while detached houses of wood rose by 3.5 per cent. The material costs increased by 4.2 and 3.0 per cent respectively the last year.
