Increase in steel prices

The material costs in multi-dwelling houses increased by 1.3 per cent in April compared with March this year. The increase is due to higher steel prices. For detached houses the material costs rose 0.7 per cent in the same period.

The index of residential buildings increased by 0.4 per cent in April compared with March this year. Material cost increased by 0.8 per cent in the same period.

On an annual basis, the construction costs of residential buildings rose by 2.5 per cent last year and material costs rose by 3.2 per cent in the same period.
