Increased material costs

From December 2003 to January 2004 material costs of residential buildings rose by 0.5 per cent, while the construction cost index rose by 0.4 per cent in the same period.

Last month material costs of electrical installation in detached houses and multi-dwelling houses increased the most, by 3.1 and 3.0 per cent respectively.

Construction costs in residential buildings rose by 2.3 per cent in January 2004 compared to January 2003, while material costs increased by 2.2 per cent. Last year costs of plumbing and electrical installations rose by between 4.4 and 4.8 per cent for multi-dwelling houses and detached houses.
