Stable construction costs

The index of residential buildings remained unchanged in July compared with June 2003. Material cost increased by 0.2 per cent in the same period.

On an annual basis, the construction costs of residential buildings rose by 2.9 per cent from July last year to July this year. Material costs increased by 2.1 per cent and labour costs rose by 4.6 per cent in the same period.

The construction costs of multi-dwelling houses rose by 3.1 per cent last year, while detached houses of wood increased by 2.8 per cent.
