Stable construction costs

The index of residential buildings increased by 0.1 per cent in October compared with September this year. Material costs rose by 0.1 per cent in the same period.

The material costs of site preparation increased by 0.2 per cent last month for both detached houses and multi-dwelling houses.

The construction costs of residential buildings rose by 3.3 per cent in October 2002 compared with October 2001. Labour costs and material costs increased by 5.0 and 2.3 per cent respectively, in the same period.
