Reduced costs in asphalt work

Road maintenance costs rose by 0.1 per cent from the second quarter to the third quarter of 2015. This was despite the asphalt work costs decreasing by 1.0 per cent during the same period.

The material costs related to asphalt work were reduced by 2.0 per cent from the second to the third quarter of 2015. In the last 12 months, the road maintenance costs have decreased by 0.8 per cent. The decrease is mainly due to changes in prices of materials.

The road construction costs increased by 0.5 per cent from the second to the third quarter of 2015, and have increased by 1.2 per cent since the third quarter of 2014.

The construction costs of concrete bridges, rock tunnels and open air roads have risen by 2.3, 2.1 and 0.5 per cent respectively since the third quarter of 2014.
