Road construction costs up 0.9 per cent

Road construction costs increased by 0.9 per cent from the second to the third quarter of 2009. The costs are 0.9 per cent lower than in the third quarter of 2008.

Figures related to construction costs for road construction are corrected for the 2nd and 3rd quarter of 2009. Here you can find the correct figures for the 2nd quarter.

From the second to the third quarter this year the construction costs of open air road increased the most, by 1.3 per cent. The costs of rock tunnel and concrete bridges rose by 0.7 and 0.3 per cent respectively.

From the third quarter of 2008 to the third quarter of 2009 the construction costs of concrete bridges decreased the most, by 2.5 per cent. The costs of open air road decreased by 0.9 per cent, while costs of rock tunnel rose by 0.8 per cent in the same period.

The maintenance costs of roads increased by 2.21 per cent from the second to the third quarter of 2009, and are 1.71 per cent lower than in the third quarter of 2008. The construction costs of asphalt work decreased the most, by 9.0 per cent the last year.
