Then construction costs of concrete bridges rose the most, with a 2.9 per cent increase during the last quarter. The costs of open air roads and rock tunnels increased by 2.5 and 2.4 per cent respectively.

From the second quarter last year to the second quarter this year the road construction costs rose by 9.2 per cent. The construction costs of open air road increased the most, by 10.3 per cent. Construction costs of concrete bridges and rock tunnels rose by 7.8 and 7.4 per cent respectively.

The total maintenance costs of roads increased by 2.5 per cent from the first to the second quarter of 2008, and are now 10.4 per cent higher than one year ago. The construction costs of asphalt work had the strongest increase, up 14.8 per cent during the last year.
