Construction cost index for road construction, Q4 2007

With an increase of 8.7 per cent, the construction costs of open air roads had the strongest increase from the fourth quarter of 2006 to the fourth quarter last year. The costs of building concrete bridges and rock tunnels increased by 7.1 and 6.3 per cent respectively in the same period.

The construction costs of open air roads had the largest increase from the third quarter to the fourth quarter of 2007 with 3.3 per cent. The construction costs of rock tunnels and concrete bridges increased by 2.5 and 1.8 per cent respectively in the same period.

The maintenance costs of roads increased by 3.4 per cent from the third to the fourth quarter of 2007 and are now 8.5 per cent higher than one year ago.
