Road construction costs up 0.7 per cent

The construction costs of roads rose by 0.7 per cent from the second quarter to the third quarter this 2005. Material costs increased by 0.4 per cent in the same period.

The construction costs of open-air roads rose by 0.9 per cent from the second quarter to the third quarter this year. The costs of rock tunnels and concrete bridges increased by 0.6 per cent and 0.2 per cent respectively in the same period.

The maintenance costs of roads increased by 1.5 per cent from the second quarter to the third quarter this year. The material costs of asphalt work contributed most to this increase.
