Construction costs for roads up

The construction costs for main roads and provincial roads rose by 0.3 per cent from the 4th quarter 2003 to the 1st quarter 2004. The material costs increased by 0.7 per cent during this period.

The machinery costs rose by 0.3 per cent from the 4th quarter 2003 to the 1st quarter 2004, while the labour costs decreased by 0.1 per cent in the same period.

From the 4th quarter 2003 to the 1st quarter 2004 the construction costs for main roads and provincial roads increased by 1.7 per cent. The labour costs, the material costs and the machinery costs rose by 3.25, 1.6 and 1.0 per cent respectively in the same period.

Maintenance of roads

The construction costs for maintenance of main roads and provincial roads increased by 0.3 per cent from the 4th quarter 2003 to the 1st quarter 2004 and is 1.7 per cent higher than a year before.
