Construction costs for roads up

The construction costs for main roads and provincial roads rose by 0.5 per cent from the 2nd quarter to the 3rd quarter this year. The machinery costs increased by 0.7 per cent during this period.

The labour and the material costs rose by 0.4 and 0.2 per cent respectively in the same period. The cost for mass moving increased the most, by 0.7 per cent at the same time. The price increase of diesel is the main reason for the increasing costs of the machinery.

From the 3rd quarter 2002 to the 3rd quarter 2003 the construction costs for main roads and provincial roads increased by 3.2 per cent. The labour costs, the material costs and the machinery costs rose by 4.8, 4.4 and 1.3 per cent respectively in the same period.

Maintenance of roads

The construction costs for maintenance of main roads and provincial roads increased by 0.5 per cent from the 2nd to the 3rd quarter this year and is 3.6 per cent higher than a year before.
