Minor changes in road construction costs

The construction costs for main roads and provincial roads rose by 0.1 per cent from the 1st quarter to the 2nd quarter this year. The machinery costs decreased by 0.7 per cent.

In the same period the material costs and the labour costs rose by 0.7 and 0.5 per cent respectively.

From the 2nd quarter 2002 to the 2nd quarter 2003 the construction costs for main roads and provincial roads increased by 3.0 per cent. The labour costs, the machinery costs and the material costs rose by 5.5, 4.0 and 1.3 per cent respectively.

Maintenance of roads

The construction costs for maintenance of main roads and provincial roads remained unchanged from the 1st quarter to the 2nd quarter 2003.
