Increasing construction costs

The construction costs for main roads and provincial roads increased by 1.3 per cent from the 1st to the 2nd quarter this 2002.

The costs for mass moving and other work raised the most, by 1.4 and 1.9 per cent respectively last quarter. The cost for road foundation and road surface both increased by 1.1 per cent during this period.

From the 2n d quarter 2001 to the 2nd quarter 2002 the construction costs for main road and provincial road rose by 2.2 per cent. The costs for other work increased the most this period by 3.4 per cent, while the costs for road surface rose by 2.7 per cent.

Maintenance of roads

The construction costs for maintenance of main road and provincial road increased by 1.2 per cent from the 1st to the 2n d quarter this year, and was 2.0 per cent higher than a year before.
