Decrease in costs for road construction

Building costs for main road and provincial road decreased by 0.2 per cent from first quarter to second quarter 2001.

The various subindices show that massmoving costs decreased the most, by 1.3 per cent from first quarter to second quarter this year. The costs of road foundation fell by 0.6 per cent in the same period.

Building costs for main road and provincial road rose by 3.3 per cent from second quarter last year to second quarter this year. The cost of ditches, basins and pipes rose by 4.5 per cent, while blasting increased by 4.1 per cent in the same period.

Cheaper maintenance of main roads and provincial roads

Building costs maintenance of main road and provincial road decreased by 0.5 per cent from first quarter to second quarter 2001. The cost of maintenance in wintertime decreased the most, by 1.0 per cent in the same period. From second quarter last year to second quarter this year building costs maintenance of main road and provincial road rose by 3.4 per cent.
