Higher costs for road construction

Total building costs for main road and provincial road rose by 0.7 per cent from fourth quarter 2000 to first quarter 2001.

The various subindices show that blasting costs increased the most, by 1.8 per cent from fourth quarter 2000 to first quarter 2001. The costs of ditches, basins and pipes, and bridges and quays both rose by 1.1 per cent in the same period.

The total building costs for main road and provincial road rose by 4.7 per cent from first quarter last year to first quarter this year. The cost of ditches, basins and pipes rose by 5.4 per cent, while blasting and mass-moving costs both increased by 5.1 per cent in the same period.

Maintenance of main road and provincial road

Building costs maintenance of main road and provincial road increased by a total of 0.6 per cent from fourth quarter last year to first quarter this year. The road , bridges and quays costs increased the most, by 0.7 per cent in the same period.
