Higher costs for road construction

Road construction costs increased by 1.6 per cent from the first to the second quarter of 2011, and are 6.2 per cent higher than in the second quarter of 2010.

The construction costs of open air roads rose by 1.8 per cent, while the costs of concrete bridges and rock tunnels increased by 1.4 and 1.0 per cent respectively.

From the second quarter of 2010 to the second quarter of 2011 the construction costs of concrete bridges, open air roads and rock tunnels rose by 6.6, 6.3 and 5.0 per cent respectively.

The maintenance cost of roads increased by 2.0 per cent from the first quarter to the second quarter of 2011, and are 6.8 per cent higher than in the second quarter of 2010.
