Construction cost index for road construction, 15 November 2009

The construction costs of open air road increased the most, by 2.7 per cent the last year. The costs of rock tunnels rose by 1.4 per cent, while the construction costs of concrete bridges decreased by 2.3 per cent in the same period.

From the third quarter to the fourth quarter last year, the total road construction costs increased by 0.2 per cent.

The maintenance costs of roads rose by 2.4 per cent from the fourth quarter of 2008 to the fourth quarter of 2009. In this group, the construction costs of asphalt work increased the most last year, by 4.5 per cent.
