Statistics Norway has decided to stop the publication of the Price index for office and commercial premises as from the first half of 2008. This is due to changes in the data basis, which is based on officially registered sales of these types of property. Since office and commercial premises are to an increasing extent owned by limited companies (which means they are not officially registered when sold), the data basis is diminishing. A limited data basis leads to more uncertain price calculations.

Price growth for office properties continues

Prices of office and business properties increased by 12.6 per cent from the second half of 2006 to the second half of 2007.

Following the strong growth in the first half of 2007, the growth in prices of office properties was more moderate in the second half of the year. From the first to the second half of 2007, the prices increased by 1.8 per cent.

Since the first half of 1996, prices of office and business properties have increased by 145.7 per cent, while house prices have risen by 183.9 per cent.

A total of 240 property transfers have been used in the calculation of the index for the second half of 2007.
