The central government’s total revenue was NOK 287 billion in the third quarter of this year. This is NOK 5 billion less than in the third quarter of 2013. Transfers account for most of the revenue, with a sum of NOK 253 billion. NOK 150 billion of this sum was tax revenue and NOK 91 billion was contributions to the National Insurance Scheme (NIS). Tax revenue has decreased by NOK 3 billion and the contributions to the NIS have increased by NOK 5 billion from the third quarter of last year. Total transfers to the central government have increased by NOK 3 billion, or 1.2 per cent.

Total expenditure has increased by 3.1 per cent from the third quarter of 2013. The government had expenses of NOK 256 billion in the third quarter of this year. Operating costs were NOK 36 billion, total fixed capital formation was NOK 19 billion and transfers from the central government totalled NOK 202 billion in the third quarter. Pensions and benefits through the NIS account for NOK 98 billion of the transfers. NOK 38 billion was transferred to counties and municipalities and NOK 14 billion was transferred to other state accounts.
