Increase in central government surplus

The central government surplus before net transfers to the Government Pension Fund - Global totalled NOK 311 billion. This is an increase of NOK 100 billion compared with 2005, when the surplus amounted to NOK 211 billion.

In 2006, central government revenue totalled NOK 994.9 billion. This is an increase of 15.6 per cent compared with 2005. Total expenditure amounted to NOK 683.5 billion in 2006, an increase of 5.1 per cent compared with the year before.

In 2006, total expenditure in the fiscal account excluding the National Insurance Scheme amounted to NOK 444.5 billion. The National Insurance Scheme's total expenditure amounted to NOK 239.0 billion. Compared with 2005, these represent increases of 7.2 and 1.5 per cent respectively.

The Ministry of Finance published the Central government fiscal account including the National Insurance Scheme 2006 on 27 April 2007. Statistics Norway presents the main features of the Central government fiscal account on a yearly and quarterly basis.
