Total revenue of NOK 1 238 billion

The central government’s approved budget for 2012 shows total revenue of NOK 1 238 billion and total expenditure of NOK 1 006 billion.

Transfers account for most of the revenue in 2012, with a total sum of NOK 1 089 billion. NOK 781 billion of this sum is paid as taxes. Contributions to the National insurance scheme amount to NOK 247 billion. The operating surplus from extraction of petroleum is expected to be NOK 111 billion in 2012.

The largest part of the government’s expenditure is also transfers, totalling NOK 803 billion in the budget for 2012. Pensions and benefits from the National insurance scheme account for NOK 349 billion of this sum.

Statistics Norway has updated the table for central government revenue and expenditure by type. The table now contains the central government’s approved budget for 2011 and 2012, and accounting figures for previous years.

The central government budget for 2012 was released on 6 October, and more information on the budget can be found on the Ministry of Finance’s website
