NOK 21.9 billion was paid in taxes in December. This is the lowest monthly payment in 2013. The biggest contributor to tax payments in December was tax revenues from petroleum extraction.

Expected decline in tax revenues from petroleum extraction

One of the reasons for the low growth in tax payments is the decline of tax revenues from petroleum extraction; NOK 27.2 billion less was paid in 2013 compared to 2012, which is a reduction of 11.9 per cent. Part of the reason for the low payments from this sector in 2013, especially in the last six months, is a reduction in the estimated instalments of the 2013 tax on income.

More in tax payments to central government, municipalities and county authorities

In 2013, the central government, and the municipalities and county authorities received NOK 241.4 billion and NOK 153.4 billion respectively. This is an increase of 4.5 per cent for the central government and 5.7 per cent for the municipalities and county authorities. Of the NOK 153.4 billion paid to the municipalities and county authorities, NOK 27 billion was paid to the county authorities and NOK 126.4 billion was paid to the municipalities.

Payments to the National Insurance Scheme increased by 7.1 per cent

In 2013, NOK 110.7 billion was paid in member contributions to the National Insurance Scheme, while NOK 148.6 billion was paid in employer contributions. This gives an increase of 7.2 per cent and 7.1 per cent from last year respectively.
