Increase in tax payments

By the end of November 2012, Norway had received a total of NOK 808.7 billion in tax payments. This is 7.3 per cent more than the same period last year, or NOK 54.8 billion. In November alone, NOK 112.5 billion was received in tax payments, making November the most profitable month this year.

Distributed taxes

The accumulated tax payments at the end of November exceed the total amount received through the taxation system in 2011. The greatest contributors were the tax equalization contribution to central government, member contributions to the National Insurance Scheme and the ordinary taxes to the local authorities. These amounted to NOK 39.6 billion, NOK 22.5 billion and NOK 22.1 billion respectively. NOK 542.5 billion came through the advance tax arrangement. This is an increase of 7.4 per cent, or NOK 37.1 billion, compared to the same period last year. NOK 265.7 billion was received through the non-personal taxpaying arrangement. This is an increase of 7.1 per cent compared to the corresponding period last year.

National Insurance Scheme

The member and employer contributions to the National Insurance Scheme account for roughly 45 per cent, NOK 240.1 billion, of the NOK 542.5 billion collected through the advance tax arrangement scheme. This represents a 5.5 per cent increase in payments to the National Insurance Scheme through member and employer contributions compared to the same period last year.

Local government

The local authorities had received a total of NOK 144.1 billion by the end of November, which is a 7.8 per cent increase, or NOK 10.4 billion, compared to the corresponding period last year. The taxes received by the local authorities in Norway mostly come from one source, namely the ordinary taxes on income.

Central government

The tax payments received by the state authorities stood at NOK 229.4 billion by the end of November. This represents an increase of 3.1 per cent compared to the same period last year. The tax equalization contribution to the central government represents NOK 199.8 billion of the NOK 229.4 billion collected.

Merging of municipalities

The municipalities of Mosvik and Inderøy were merged as Inderøy. In table 3, the changes in per cent from last year are based on the sum of the two municipalities last year.
