Slight increase in aggregate tax payments

A total of NOK 705 billion was paid in taxes during 2010. This is 1.6 per cent more than the total tax payments in 2009. Tax payments are still lower than they were in 2008. This reduction is due to lower tax payments from extraction of petroleum.

Paid and distributed taxes by county. Change in per cent, January-December 2008 to 2009 and 2009 to 2010

By the end of November, tax payments in 2010 and 2009 were almost equal. Payments in December 2010 were about NOK 10 billion higher than they were in December 2009. Taxes on petroleum extraction account for most of the difference between December 2009 and December 2010.

Higher advance tax payments

Advance tax payments in 2010 amount to a total of NOK 479 billion. In 2009, the sum of advance tax payments was NOK 464 billion. NOK 71 billion was paid by non-personal taxpayers in 2010. This is 5 billion, or 8.3 per cent more than in 2009.

Nine billion more to counties and municipalities

A total of NOK 138 billion was paid in taxes to municipalities and county authorities in 2010. The payments in the two previous years were somewhat lower than this amount. Payments registered in December have little influence on the total for the whole year.

Increased contributions to the national insurance scheme

Contributions to the national insurance scheme increased by 1.5 per cent and totalled NOK 213 billion by the end of 2010. NOK 123 billion was employer contributions and the remaining NOK 90 billion was member contributions. Employer contributions increased by 1.7 per cent from 2009, and member contributions increased by 1.3 per cent.

Slight increase in payments to the central government

A total of NOK 196 billion was paid in taxes to the central government in 2010. This is an increase of 8 billion, or 4.5 per cent, from 2009. It is also slightly higher than the total sum for 2008.

Figures for taxes on petroleum extraction from December 2009 have been corrected for this publication.
