Petroleum-related tax payments increasing

A total of NOK 471 billion was paid to cover taxes in the period January-August. Tax revenues in the said period are somewhat lower this year than the previous year. Tax revenues from each of the last months have still been slightly higher than they were last year.

Paid and distributed taxes by county. Change in per cent, January-August 2008 to 2009 and 2009 to 2010

In August one of the terms of petroleum-related taxes were due. The payments this term were larger than in the same term of last year. It was also the first term of this year that payments of petroleum-related taxes were larger than the corresponding term last year. Nevertheless, oil-related taxes are lower so far this year, but the reduction by the end of August is about 20 per cent. Earlier this year the reduction was 40 per cent.

Many figures have hardly changed during August because they were not due this period. This applies to the figures of other non-personal taxes (than petroleum-related), taxes from the advance tax arrangement, ordinary taxes to local and county municipalities and the National insurance scheme. Comments on the latest development of the said figures were released on 20 August.
