Petroleum tax income decreased

During the period January through July 2010, total tax payments amounted to NOK 439 billion. Compared to the same period in 2009, this is a reduction of 3 per cent. The reduction is due to a decline in taxes related to extraction of oil.

Paid and distributed taxes by county. Change in per cent, January-July 2008 to 2009 and 2009 to 2010

The reduction of the petroleum-related tax revenues so far this year is about 30 per cent compared to last year; from NOK 97 billion to NOK 67 billion. By the end of March, this comparison showed a reduction of about 40 per cent.

The amounts from other non-personal taxpaying arrangements have increased. By the end of July, there was an increase of about 20 per cent, from more than NOK 55 billion to in excess of NOK 66 billion. The same comparison last year showed a decrease of about 1 per cent.

Almost 4 per cent more to municipalities

By the end of July, tax payments for the benefit of municipalities were NOK 72 billion. This is an increase of nearly 4 per cent. The increase from 2008 to 2009 was roughly double - slightly more than 8 per cent. The tax payments to the county municipalities totalled around NOK 14 billion, which is an increase of about 3 per cent. This increase is also less than the increase through the same period last year.

There has been an increase of around 1 per cent in total payments to the national insurance scheme. This increase is rather low compared to last year’s increase, which was almost 8 per cent.
