Increased non-petroleum related taxes

By the end of May 2010, the total tax income amounted to NOK 348 billion; a decline of 2.5 per cent. The corresponding figure last month was a decline of 12 per cent. This development stems from tax arrangements other than petroleum related taxes.

The non-personal taxpaying arrangement, excluding the continental shelf, shows an increase of almost NOK 12 billion; close to 22 per cent. Such payments stem from tax levied on a preceding year basis.

Payments from advance tax arrangements have shown an increase of 1.6 per cent, representing NOK 3.8 billion. The corresponding figure last month was a decline of 2.5 per cent. As stated last month, this figure is influenced by a change related to due, but not yet assessed, tax. The previous deadline for payment of this was 30 April, but the date has now been changed to 31 May, which explains the large payments in May 2010.

Paid and distributed taxes by county. Change in per cent, January-May 2008 to 2009 and 2009 to 2010

The figures of tax payments from the continental shelf are more or less unchanged from last month, and the reduction reported then, about NOK 24 billion or 35 per cent, still applies.

Almost NOK 70 billion to municipalities and county municipalities

Total tax paid to municipalities during the five month period amounted to NOK 58 billion. This is an increase of 3.5 per cent or almost NOK 2 billion from 2009. Tax payments to county municipalities totalled NOK 11.3 billion; an increase of NOK 300 billion, or 2.6 per cent.
