Modest growth in tax income

In January 2010 total tax income amounted to NOK 65.4 billion. This is a modest growth of 1.2 per cent or NOK 800 billion compared to January 2009.

Paid and distributed taxes by county. Change in per cent, January 2008 to 2009 and 2009 to 2010

The modest increase is mainly due to a reduction in tax equalisation tax paid to central government and in employer contributions to the National Insurance Scheme. The tax equalisation tax decreased by NOK 700 million or 5 per cent compared to 2009. Employer contributions totalled NOK 21.4 billion, which is a decline of NOK 400 million or 1.8 per cent compared to the same period last year.

6.8 per cent more in tax income to municipalities

Total tax paid to municipalities amounted to NOK 14.1 billion. This is an increase of 6.8 per cent or NOK 900 million. Tax paid to county municipalities rose by 1 per cent and totalled NOK 2.7 billion.
