Decline in total tax income in 2009

In 2009, total tax payments amounted to NOK 694.7 billion. This is a reduction of NOK 60.7 billion or 8 per cent compared to 2008.

In December 2009, an excessive NOK 28 million was registered as taxes on petroleum extraction. These figures were corrected 1 February 2011. This also means that the figure for total taxes for 2009 is NOK 28 million lower than the sum reported earlier. (01.02.2011)

Paid and distributed taxes, by county municipality. Change in per cent, January-December 2007-2008 and 2008-2009

It is the first year since 2002 that the year-end tax accounts show a decline from the previous year. The decline is explained by a reduction of NOK 74.1 billion or 31 per cent in petroleum taxes to NOK 165.3 billion. Tax payments excluding petroleum taxes totalled NOK 525.6 billion, which is a slight increase of 2.5 per cent or NOK 13 billion. In comparison, tax payments excluding petroleum taxes increased by 10.5 per cent from 2007 to 2008.

NOK 108.5 billion to municipalities

Total tax paid to municipalities increased by NOK 6.1 billion or 5.9 per cent and amounted to NOK 108.5 billion. Tax paid to county municipalities totalled NOK 21.1 billion. This is an increase of slightly more than NOK 400 million or 2.1 per cent compared to 2008.

Employer contributions and member contributions to the National Insurance Scheme amounted to NOK 120.6 and 89.4 billion respectively. This corresponds to an increase of 4.8 and 7.3 per cent respectively.
