Moderate decline in tax revenue

Total tax revenue amounted to NOK 480.8 billion in the period January-August 2009. This is a moderate decline of NOK 5.8 billion compared to the same period in 2008. The decline is caused by lower tax revenue from petroleum so far in 2009.

In total, the decline in tax revenue is 1.2 per cent compared with January-August 2008. Total tax revenue, excluding petroleum taxes, increased by NOK 14.9 billion or 4.4 per cent.

Tax payments to municipalities grew by NOK 5.3 billion or 8.1 per cent to NOK 70.6 billion. County municipalities received tax revenue of NOK 13.9 billion, which is an increase of NOK 500 million or 3.8 per cent.
