Increased tax revenue in first half of 2008

In the first half of 2008, distributed taxes amounted to NOK 374 billion, an increase of NOK 37.7 billion or 11.2 per cent compared to the first half of 2007.

Tax revenues to local governments totalled NOK 63.7 billion, an increase of 7.7 per cent compared to the corresponding period last year. Tax payments to county municipalities rose by 7.2 per cent and ended at NOK 10.8 billion. Tax payments to municipalities amounted to NOK 52.9 billion, which corresponds to a 7.8 per cent increase.

Contributions to the National Insurance Scheme totalled NOK 98 billion, an increase of 11.4 per cent compared to the same period in 2007. NOK 57.1 billion of this amount was employer contributions and NOK 40.8 billion was member contributions. The relative increases are 11.1 per cent and 11.7 per cent respectively.

Tax on income from extraction of petroleum constituted NOK 96.2 billion, which is a growth of 1 per cent from the same period last year.
