Tax revenue up 13.1 per cent

From January to March 2008, distributed taxes totalled NOK 157.8 billion. This is an increase of NOK 18.3 billion, or 13.1 per cent, compared to the corresponding period in 2007.

Total tax paid to local government amounted to NOK 36.4 billion, which is an increase of NOK 1.5 billion, or 4.2 per cent, compared to same period last year. NOK 30.2 billion of this amount was revenue to municipalities, which is an increase of 4.3 per cent from 2007. Tax revenue to county municipalities increased by 3.7 per cent to NOK 6.2 billion.

Contributions to the National Insurance Scheme totalled NOK 61.6, an increase of 9.5 per cent, compared to 2007. Employer contributions accounted for NOK 38.3 billion and member contributions accounted for NOK 23.3 billion, an increase of 10.4 per cent and 8.0 per cent respectively.
