Tax payments up 17.2 per cent

In the period January to February 2008, distributed taxes amounted to slightly more than NOK 87 billion. This is an increase of NOK 12.8 billion, or 17.2 per cent, compared with the corresponding period in 2007.

Total tax paid to local government came to NOK 16.7 billion. This is an increase of NOK 415 million, or 2.5 per cent compared with the same period last year.

Contributions to the National Insurance Scheme totalled NOK 31 billion, an increase of just under NOK 2.5 billion, or 8.7 per cent, compared with the same period in 2007. Employer contributions amounted to NOK 20.8 billion, while member contributions amounted to NOK 10.2 billion, an increase of 9.8 per cent and 6.6 per cent respectively.

This publication contains figures for both January and January to February. Tables 1-3 contain January figures, while tables 4-6 contain January to February figures. The release of the January figures was postponed due to a delay in the delivery of the statistical data.

Please note that there may be errors in the rates of change for some municipalities between the period January-February 2007 and the corresponding period in 2006 and 2008. This is due to errors in the Directorate of Taxes’ tax figures from and including February 2007.
