Tax revenues up 13.1 per cent

From January to May 2005 distributed taxes amounted to NOK 262 billion. This is an increase of NOK 30 billion, or 13.1 per cent, compared with the corresponding period in 2004.

The raise is mainly due to increased payment of petroleum taxes in April. Total tax paid to central government came to NOK 65 billion, while local governments had a total tax income of NOK 51 billion. These are increases of 6.6 per cent and 5.0 per cent respectively. Contributions to the National Insurance Scheme totalled NOK 76 billion, an increase of 5.8 per cent compared with the same period last year.
