Modest increase in tax payments

From January to May 2004, distributed taxes amounted NOK 232 billion. This is an increase of NOK 7 billion, or 3.3 per cent, compared with the same period last year.

Total tax paid to local government amounted to NOK 49 billion, a growth of 3.5 per cent compared with 2003. Contributions to the National Insurance Scheme amounted to NOK 72 billion, an increase of 3.2 per cent.

Each county except from Hordaland and Møre og Romsdal had an increase in distributed taxes compared with the corresponding period last year. The county of Troms had the largest increase in tax income, 6.2 per cent compared with 2003.
